The Parish is Looking for Volunteers
The Parish Pastoral Council is looking for volunteers to become more involved in Parish Life. Volunteering is in your own time whenever you can fit it into your busy lives – daytime/evenings/ weekends and could be weekly / monthly / occasionally. Click on the Volunteer “Expression of Interest form” link to view the activities that you could get involved with. If you are interested, print it out, complete and return to the parish office.

Father Gareth Byrne spoke to Brenda Drumm about his new book of prayers, meditations and reflections entitled ‘ Love One Another as I Have Loved You’. The book, published by Veritas, is a response to the publication by Pope Francis of Amoris laetitia, his apostolic exhortation ‘on Love in the Family’ (2016).

ARC Torch of Hope 2016
We need you ! Please join us once again for our Torch of Hope Relay on Sunday the 9th of October and encourage friends and family to come along on the day please. This is ARC’S biggest annual event and fundraiser, the monies raised help us continue to provide our services free of charge. All levels of fitness are welcome and people of any age
Torch of Hope Walk 2016
Commencing at Blackrock Park on the South side and the Wooden Bridge in Dollymount on the North side
9th of October at 5pm
“The Essence of the Torch of Hope Walk is that it gives families, friends and Dublin communities an opportunity to support people who have fought cancer and remember lost loved ones”

This community and fundraising team event will see people starting the walk at 5pm along Dublin bay. The final km will be dedicated to cancer survivors who will carry the Torch of Hope to its final destination across the Samuel Beckett Bridge where both torches will light the Cauldron.
Each team will be asked to nominate one person who will act as team captain and who will be responsible for distributing information and communicating about the event to other team members.
There are two starting points around Dublin Bay at Blackrock Park and the Wooden Bridge at Dollymount & the start time will be 5pm. North side will meet South side on the Samuel Beckett Bridge at approx. 6.30pm. The closing ceremony will be followed by entertainment with surprise celebrity appearances at the CHQ building in the IFSC.
There is no registration fee but each team member is asked to raise €50 using an ARC Torch of Hope sponsorship card. All levels of fitness welcome. A fundraising pack will be sent to all participants on registration.
All monies should be submitted to ARC cancer support prior to the event.
The closing date for entries is the Oct 7th

Our Parish Olympians
Congratulations to our Parish Olympians; Ellen Keane and Mick Clohesy. Ellen is taking part in the Paralympics Swimming and has won a Bronze medal in the SB8 100m breaststroke and Mick successfully completed the Men’s Olympic Marathon.
